So i just ordered my new pc parts. Building a new system mostly from scratch, going to keep my hard drive from current pc though.

My question is this, if i install windows on the SSD and keep my hard drive untouched, because i don't want to format and any of that junk till i can afford a new hard drive, can i just set to boot from the SSD without windows freaking out about the fact that windows is also installed on my hard drive?

when installing onto a drive it asks you to select what drive to install on when you install onto that drive windows only cares about the os files on that drive not about the other one because thats from a prior one

as long as the ssd is selected as the boot drive the system will work, but I have no clue if the data on the HDD will be accessible or not.

Set the SSD as number 1 boot priority in your bios and you will be fine.

Or temporarily unplug any other drives from the motherboard, or disconnect drive power or something. I did this just so I didn't have to fiddle with any BIOS settings.
