Help to choose new mobo for ryzen 5800X

llangu

This is my rig today.

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X

Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming OC

G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4 3600 PC4-28800 32GB 2x16GB CL16

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro (with a lot of issues)

EVGA Supernova G3 850W 80 Plus Gold Modular

Corsair Obsidian 500D USB 3.0 Cristal Templado

x2 Samsung 860 EVO Basic SSD 1TB SATA3

Samsung 860 EVO Basic SSD 2TB

x3 Phanteks F120SP Fans 120mm LED

Corsair Hydro Series H150i Pro

Corsair Force Series Gen4 MP600 NVMe M.2 500GB SSD

My plan is to upgrade the 3900x to a 5800x and the 2080ti to a 3080. I wanted a 5900x but i've been told that it won't be worth for gaming at 1440p/144hz and I'll be ok with the 5800x. My current mobo has a lot of issues and I'm gonna rma it, and i'd like to know which one should i get. Money is not a problem.

A friend of mine told me that a MSI mag b550 mortar would fit be cause the pcie 4.0 and good price but I want to be sure.

Thanks a lot.

Wait for zen 3 and check what it has to offer first and how the 5800x holds up against the 3900x in games  and decide if it's worth it to switch.

As for the board, if your board is under warranty then just RMA it as the x570 aorus pro is pretty good.

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

It is good but I read a lot about it and gigabyte mobos and most of them have the same issues, cold boot bug, etc.I'll try to make them send me the new revisions 1.1 or 1.2.

First RMA it and check if there's any problem with the one they sent you/ any problems generally, but to answer your question..

Since i don't know your budget and/or location and currency..

The b550 a pro, aorus pro, tomahawk, strix f are pretty decent or the x570 tomahawk or the tuf plus are good, if you need an matx board, the b550m mortar is solid.

Yes, b550 allows the lanes that are wired to the cpu to be gen 4.

Though as i said about the 5800x..
