HP Envy X360

Hi,

I am thinking of purchasing a HP Envy X360 with the Ryzen 5 4500U and 8gb of ram that comes highly recommended by many youtubers but am of course aware that they are not always completely honest and don't use the devices long term so dont really check for durability and build quality much so just want to check before i make any decisions. The other option i am currently considering is the surface laptop go when that gets released. If i got that i would be purchasing the $700 variant.

I'm assuming you'd like our opinions of the laptops you're considering?

1) This community does not generally have a high opinion of HP.

2) I recently bought an HP Envy X360 and am pleased with it.  I bought the 16gb/1TB SSD variant, though, so I can't speak to whether the 8gb of ram is "enough" on a laptop (I wouldn't expect it to be).  Caveats: I don't have high expectations for laptop.  Mine is just a mobile sketchbook, HTPC, and web browser.  It performs all of those with no evident strain.  Also, I've had it for a little over a month, so the quality might degrade quickly.

I will say the battery is badass, though.  I have the thing open for 5-6 hours at a time doing light browsing and the like, and it only consumes about half the battery.  Orders of magnitude better than the laptops I'm accustomed to.
