i have a flash drive that works fine for reads but not for writes. I already took all my files off it as still works perfectly for reads with its full 200MB/s advertised speed but anytime try to change anything on the drive nothing happens. In windows trying to manipulate any of the files or even format it just causes the whole os to crash and in linux, trying to format it just results in an error and trying to create a new partition table will sometimes end with a success message however the drive is still completely untouched. is there a way to fix it or would this be some sort of hardware issue? its a pretty fast 64gb drive so if possible I would like to salvage it. I really don't know how the issue could've occurred as its been living its whole life inside a drawer with infrequent use. this is the drive: https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/memory-storage/usb-flash-drives/usb-3-1-flash-drive-fit-plus-64gb-muf-64ab-am/. any insight into this issue would be greatly appreciated!

had a similar issue with a corsair drive once. what fixed it for me was a firmware flash. if you can get your hands on the software, i would try flashing it. either way, an rma might be the way to go for you. pretty sure they have a 5 year warranty.

edit: also, if you haven't already, make sure to test it on another computer to verify it is the drive, and not the pc.
