It hav been confirmed that 300 series mobos will not support Zen 3.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

AM4 till 2020.

The socket yes, not the chipset. They never claim that.

They kept their promise of compatibility of the socket for 4 generations, and that's pretty good imo.

you think i should drop in a 3600x or 3700x on this board or what's the best CPU i should go for, for this board. i want a good enough CPU for 1080p/1440p gaming for next 3-4 years, i will also be getting a 3060 whenever that comes out. I'm not in the mood to get a new board.

get 3600 instead.

By 3-4 years it should be good.

I think B350 and X370 boards will receive bios updates that will allow them to use Zen 3 CPUs, despite the 'official' word from AMD. There's already cases of people running Ryzen 5000-series CPUs without issue on Asus and Gigabyte X370 boards: https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-ryzen-5000-zen-3-cpus-spotted-working-on-a320-and-x370-motherboards.html

-some- 300 series boards have been spotted working with -some- 5000 series CPUs, but it varies from board to board and it's not reliable enough that I'd tell anyone to buy a 5000 series CPU if they have a 300 series board.

If you're savvy enough to look up your board, get the special BIOS for it and flash it, then you're welcome to do so; in that case you would not be asking here though.

AMD axes Zen 3 support on 400-series motherboards: Is AMD pulling an Intel?

Note that even Zen 2 is not supported on 300 series mobo.  Some do work, but double check specific chip and board combo on motherboard website first.

Some b350 may even support zen 3, but only zen 1 and zen+ are official for the chipset.
