Hi,

I use my computer mostly for work whic usually requires big number of data processing (both on CPU and GPU). Because of that I was thinking about getting AMD Ryzen 9 3900x and I would like to get x570 motherboard because I epxect to put on good use NVMe drives that are getting out for PCIe 4.0.

I don't plan to do overclocking of any component (memory, cpu, gpu..) and I would like to have some general features like 3.2 USB ports for back as well as frontpanel. I would also want at least 2 but preferably 3 NVMe slots.

Thanks in advance for sugesstions :)

So x570 over b550 because even though b550 has better built in ports x570 can handle multiple pcie4.0 Nvme drives while b550 can handle only 1.  One issue is you’re going to need cards to get USB 3.2 so price goes up even more.  If you want thunderbolt that’s yet another card for x570 and not all x570 boards will even do thunderbolt.  They have to be designed to take a very particular card to be functional.

I suspect you might wind up spending double or triple or more to get that multiple pcie4 capacity and new USB ports.  Is it worth it to you?  Might do to make sure.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
