I'm building my mom a new PC with parts from my current PC and extra parts (old air cooler, fans, etc, etc) since I'm rebuilding my PC and she doesn't need anything super powerful but I currently have a 2600X and no integrated graphics so was wondering if maybe something like a 1050 or even older would be fine, but not an eye sore since the case I'm giving her is a tempered glass side panel. (she won't be using this PC for a lot of gaming, just occasionally a bit of games but mostly for work).

should be able to get a used rx 580 for sub 100, which would more or less be the best bet.

580/1060s usually go for around 130+ from what ive seen recently, aside from local deals which go quickly. even the low vram versions go for 110-120

best used options that are consistently at or under 100 bucks would be an rx 570, gtx 970, or other cards around that price point.

topics i need help on:

Spoiler

my "oops i bought intel right before zen 3 releases" build

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 (placeholder)

GPU: Gigabyte 980ti Xtreme (also placeholder), deshroud w/ generic 1200rpm 120mm fans x2, stock bios 130% power, no voltage offset: +70 core +400 mem

Memory: 2x16gb GSkill Trident Z RGB 3600C16, 14-15-30-288@1.45v

Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming

Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S w/ white chromax bling
OS Drive: Samsung PM981 1tb (OEM 970 Evo)

Storage Drive: XPG SX8200 Pro 2tb

Backup Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 4TB

PSU: Seasonic Prime Ultra Titanium 750W w/ black/white Cablemod extensions
Case: Fractal Design Meshify C Dark (to be replaced with a good case shortly)

basically everything was bought used off of reddit or here, only new component was the case. absolutely nutty deals for some of these parts, ill have to tally it all up once it's "done" :D

Are you gaming?

If not, a GT 710 or GT 610 for as cheap as you can find is all you need.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

no. gt 710 or gt 610 is not worth it. atleast a gtx 1050 or 1050ti is way better than the lower end gt 710 and 610

Did you miss the part where I said "not gaming?"

If OP's mom won't be playing a video game, any money spent on a gaming graphics card is wasted. But I did re-read the original post and saw "occasional gaming" which I did not notice before

I had a GT 710 in my server it couldn't hit 1440p 144hz due to old port specifications.  Upgraded to a 1650S that was open box.  My total with an account credit and selling the GT710 was about $100.  The GT710 was fine when it was headless but now I occasionally have to jump on directly and use as a spare machine.

AMD 7950x3D / Gigabyte Aurous Master X670E/ 64GB @ 6000c30 / 3 x 4TB Samsung 990 Pro / 44TB Synology 1522+ / MSI Gaming Trio 4090 / EVGA G6 1000w /Thermaltake View71 / LG C1 48in OLED + MSI 321URX - Moved back to air cooling Phantom Spirit 120 SE.  Server (PLEX) - 155H NUC 64GB  and 60GB Optane drive/ Server (AI) 64GB M4 Max Mac Studio
