Hi all, recently I've been plagued with random shutdown issues on my PC. windows  event viewer claims that the issue is an event 41 Kernel-Power failure.
I've updated all device drivers on my PC, ran stress tests, memory tests, burnitin tests, reseat of components etc to try to pinpoint a source for the errors, however it keeps happening.

I believe it may be my PSU, I'm not 100% sure how I would prove this either way but the system usually shuts down after or during a game, it can be anything, PUBG, Warzone, Among Us, Rocket League and so on.

The PSU is 6 years old at this point, I'm not sure how I prove it needs replacing if it is causing the problem.

Error 41 Kernel Power unfortunately tells you nothing about what caused the problem. All it means is the PC rebooted before it had a chance to do any form of error detection. Its not even a guarantee that it was a power related problem at all.

The PSU is as good a place as any to start.

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

WHEA Uncorrectable Error

This is the bluescreen error that comes up (to display it I had to disable automatic shutdown/restart)

I tried everything that it mentions fixing but I'm still having problems.

My PSU is from at least 2014, CPU and Motherboard are from 2017 and GPU/Ram and hard drives are all under 2 years old.

By law of probability the oldest component is likely the weakest link in the chain I'd have thought.

Unfortunately I am mistaken, this is the model and it only had 5 year warranty!

I'll be ordering a new one this week and hope my problems are solved.

OK, no worries...

Yeah replace that.

So update on the situation! I now have two PCs but only one CPU and GPU. I have tried both PSUs, Motherboards, RAM, different SSDs and Hard Drives. The only constants in both systems is my CPU and GPU. The Kernel 41 error continues to this day and is particularly bad when playing demanding or unoptimized games such as Valheim. (I hosted a Valheim server for a while but it kept crashing my PC daily so I have stopped) I am now at a loss as GPUs are hard to find now and I'm not 100% sure it's the CPU as the crashes are usually coming up on AMDs graphics software.

whats your ram speed? Overclock on the CPU? Try resetting cmos to defaults, run everything on default. Reset powerplan in windows. If you got g-sync enabled, try without. I had kernal 41 a while ago, and it wasn't PSU related, but some bug in windows. Try updating/reinstalling windows if above dosen't help.
