Budget (including currency): 350€

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: cyberpunk 2077, Horizon 0 Dawn, Apex legends

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):  i7 4770, 16gb ddr3 1600MHz ram, RX580, 350W PSU from FSP ( a real fire hazard), 120gb SSD, 500GB HDD

My plan is to buy an RTX 3060 or the AMD equivalent as soon as they come out.

I am thinking about selling my current PC. I can get 400€ for it, if i sell it right now.

I can borrow an rx580 from a friend (until the 3060 or the 6000 Series from amd comes on the market) and buy following parts for almost 400€:

Ryzen 5 3600

msi b550M Pro VDH

16 gb 3200MHz Ram

500W system power 9 Be Quiet PSU

240 GB NVME SSD

(i allready have a spare case)

My Question is: Do you think this is a good idea, and it is a good time to Upgrade, or should i wait, replace my current gpu with a 3060 as soon as available (PSU Change will be necessary), and stick to the 4770 until Ryzen 5000 Series and upgrade at that time?

What do you think is the cheaper version, and what makes more sense?

if you can wait for a bit, you should wait for new Zen 3
so if you're in a limited budget you can cramp more with same budget by stepping down 1 generation for a price cut.

for GPU you're already on the right step but just remember to wait for review for independent reviewers or actual users

I cant tell you right now

but in my perspective, when new product in this case new CPU launch the last gen product will decrease in price so you'll get more bank for the bucks and you can upgrade along the way when you get the budget for it cause they use the same AM4 socket and you're planning to get B550 board so it should support Zen 3 Chip

For GPU, you should wait for reviews cause going for it right of the bat is a bad idea, when 3060 release maybe you could get a good deal for RTX 2000 series for a better performing card and cheaper price. but if you dont feel comfortable getting second hand card just wait for the reviews for the performance, are those cards fit your frames per dollar count.

i think we can narrow it down to: what will change more in Price (and Performance): the b550 Boards and zen3, or my current PC?

Yes, just do your homework and research the performance for each option

just remember getting the newest graphic card or CPU usually comes with early adopter bug and random crashes where stuff wasnt really optimized for that hardware, usually get better overtime but if your consideration are stability usually stepping down one generation yield better price to performance.

but if you like to the the new flashy card go ahead, as long you are happy with the card and enjoy the dopamine rush

i will probably get a used 2080 insted of a 3060 if the reviews are not that geate :)

There is probably still the Option to get a R 5 3600 and upgrade it afterwards ifi need more performance to Zen3 :)
