Screen goes black

On startup, there would be no picture.  Computer powers on, monitor is on, but no startup screen.  I would power down, then power on, many times it would be fine, start up screen and then it would run fine.  I put new thermal paste on the gpu, Corsair xtm50,   fine for a few months. Now it’s staring fine, but 5 minutes in, just checking email, no load, my mouse freezes and the screen goes black. Monitor has power. 

 

just powered on the computer and it started fine.  

everything is about 2 years old

nvidia msi GeForce 1070

ryzon 7 1700

seasonic m12. II bronze 520 w 80 bronze
