ran into a problem with my port forwarding

i did all of the port forwarding as it should be but my minecraft server is not showing as online

i did both tcp and udp protocols and tried doing them separately but it didnt work

the port is correct and the ip of the pc is correct

ive tried doing this from another pc and it still didnt work

also tried enabling java though firewall - didnt work

any ideas?

Steps to check:

1. Some routers have a firewall separate from the port forwarding, if so: are both configured?

2. Try to connect from a pc from within your network. If that works, then you did not do the forwarding correctly

3. Disable the firewall on the PC hosting the minecraft server completely. If that works, check your rules.

4. Throws hand in the air and curse at sky.

Since thats the same. Direct connection = local ip address i think you mean something else?

my pc's pi is 1 thing and the local ip that im giving to my friends is something else

disabling the windows firewall did nothing, ive already tried it before as well as letting anything thats java related through so i know that its not the firewall thats causing this problem

like i said, i can connect from another pc only if i put in my pc's ip but i cant connect with the ip that im giving to my friends, the local ip not the pc's ip

model is sagemcom fast5657il

Local ip is your internal IP, most likely something like 192.168.1.x

Your external IP is what you give to your friends. But thats splitting hairs.

So step 2 is answered: You can connect from your internal network to the PC, just not from the outside. That rules out the firewall on the minecraft server.

Something in your router is not setup correctly, like i said. Some routers have a separate section for firewall and port forwarding.

Also, you are sure you have the correct external IP? changing routers can cause the ISP to change external IP

maybe 'DMZ' has something to do with it?

“You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” -Inigo Montoya

DMZ is Demilitarized zone, a network segment between the external network and internal network and completely open.

This is usually not available on a consumer router.

What u mean is a DMZ-Host, That would be a host that receives all the open ports besides the ones being forwarded to a specific host
