Connecting Power to GPU Stops POST

I bought components for a new system I was building my kid brother and ran into some issues.

 

The components are below:

Intel i5 10600K

MSI Z490-A PRO

Gigabyte 2060 Super

Cooler Master MWE 650 Gold

 

Without the discrete GPU it boots perfectly and runs perfectly but when I connect the GPU with power it does not even post.

 

I ran the GPU on my system and it works perfectly. I borrowed a 1050ti that doesn't require power and the system booted up.

 

So i narrowed down the issue to the PSU. The motherboard has 1 8 pin + 1 4 pin, I learnt that the extra 4 pin was for extreme OC so I ran with and without that connected but it didn't post in either case.

 

Is my power supply too underpowered? Should I upgrade it? What would be an ideal PSU to upgrade it to?

Are you using the PCIe power cables that came with the Cooler Master MWE Gold power supply? (Not mixing power cables from a different power supply)

Yes I used the original cables. An 8 pin to 6+2 pin cable.

I went and got the PCIe cable changed, it was faulty and lo and behold, it worked. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
