Google Glass

Kirihuna

So I got an email saying I was accepted into Google Glass Explorer program or whatever.

You know, where you have to spend $1,500 for a headset plus $225 for the prescription frames.

Anyways, does anyone have this? Is it worth it, even if it's expensive?

I would have the money come April, which isn't too far off.

Well I have no chance at a Google glass because of where I live, but even if I did, I definitely wouldn't buy it. I'll wait to see what the final release product brings, for now it seems way to expensive for what is essentially an extension of your phone on your face.

This is something really based on the user. If you feel like you will use it as a part of your daily life and would like to say that you were a "beta tester" for Google Glass then by all means do so. The thing about it is that not everybody finds it worth the $1500 Pricetag just to be a beta tester, plus the cost of the glasses. (If I remember correctly, the $1500 doesn't even include the glasses. Then again, that could be really inaccurate)

I wouldn't. But, I hate the idea so I'm definitely biased.

Personally I think there are so many other things you could spend $1,500 and actually improve your quality of life.
This just puts a bulls eye on you for those who are extreme haters.

I think people that use it look like a complete tool. No one needs to be THAT connected, especially with the generally low usability of it.

The 1500 is just got the base Google glass. Getting perscription lenses or sunglasses attachment is an added fee on top of the 1500 base.

"Usability" is a very subjective thing. For men it would be worth up to $800. If the consumer is 800 or lower it will be a buy for me. But it fits my use case very well. I travel internationally very often and go on long road trips regularly so having a heads up display is worth the money instead of having to get my phone out repeatedly.

Glass is a great device for those that know what they are going to use it for. For everyone else it'll be meh. Like how a killer gaming PC for our demographic is great but for the general masses its just an overpriced piece of tech for their word processing and web browsing needs.
