Diy project ariana

SirGame123

I have a old shitty projector laying around and was figuring if I could use it as a sort of ambilight/project ariana (that thing razer showed off at ces 2017 but then abandoned) for my monitor or tv. Anybody have any ideas or know any software to get this to work?

if you want it to do ambilight just send a second video output to your projector, set monitors to duplicate screen, line up the center of the projector throw on your screen and blur with the focus ring on the projector, all it's doing is increasing the size of the screen output and the blur takes away any of the definition so it's just colours.

a project ariana would be much more difficult,

https://livestream.com/studio

Vimeo Studio software for live effects, OBS to live capture your screen into it

from screenshots and videos Ariana takes the live footage (OBS in this case) adds a distortion effect to match the screen dimensions and then extreme stretch the rest like an ultrawide lens distort effect (probably going to be calibrating the projector throw manually and digitally to line everything up with an X and square so lines don't jump too badly onto wall) and project it onto the wall/screen and wall depending on where that projector ends up being placed. (in your case behind you for the extra throw distance)

The best gaming PC is the PC you like to game on, how you like to game on it

The problem isnt the projection side its the game rendering the visual side.
Instead of just rendering the game once you need to do it twice. And the second time you need to render the side of your first game . Your problem is game developers didnt support the idea.

The kind of close way is
Render the game at 4k send that to the projector but use OBS to cut a 1080 box in the middle. Then again in OBS send that 1080 box in the middle to your computer monitor. Also good luck lining the monitor and the projector up. Youll need to keep that monitor and projector still and have a decent zoom and focus to get them to align.
Ta da you've kind of done it. What you've actually done is reduce your monitors vision and moved it to the wall around you. Your mini map is going to be near your floor, the scoreboard is on your ceiling and your sights take up majority of your monitor.

Or if you want to do something kind of similar in style but a lot easier to do. Use OBS to display the same image on the projector but blur it like mad so you cant tell whats going on and display that around you with a black area on the monitor so there is no glare. Then your wall will have similar colours to your game. Like phillip hue ambient light but OTT.
