Hi all.

New user, so sorry if I’ve posted in the wrong section.

Currently have this rig, but overall it’s getting upgraded in the next few months:

AMD FX8320

MSI 970a-G43 Plus

16gb Vengeance DDR3 1833mhz

GTX780 (non Ti)

Essentially everything is been upgraded to Ryzen 5 3600 with MSI B450A Pro Max and 16gb.

But I’m considering whether or not to change the GPU. I guess that should I keep the GTX780 it’ll likely be a bottleneck.

ive not got a huge budget for GPU, looking in the realm of <£180 (yeah I’m in England).

I’ve been considering at RX580 8gb as can pick them up new at around £150-60. But would it be much of an upgrade from the 780.

What other cards would you suggest?

(1070 seems to be above budget or difficult to find)

(most games I pay are GTA V, Fallout4/76 and Skyrim, but thinking of getting RDR2 if it’s reasonably playable).

1070 would have been my suggestion. Looking at eBay some have sold for less than £180, and if you're able to push your budget to £200 I think you should be able to get one.

If not, rx580 should offer a reasonable improvement (50ish% from what I can find)

Could perhaps look for a cheap rx590 as well.

If you want to buy new, a 1650 super would offer similar performance to a rx580

PC

Ryzen 5 2600 Stock

Sapphire Nitro+ Special Edition Radeon RX580 8GB (Would Recommend)

Gigabyte B450M DS3H (Don't recommend)

Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition

Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15

Phanteks P300 (Would Recommend)

Kingston A400 240GB SSD

Seagate BarraCuda 1TB HDD

Corsair CX550M 550W  80+ Bronze

Deepcool FH-10 Fan Hub

3x BeQuiet Pure Wings 2

Peripherals

LG 24MK400H

Logitech G413 Carbon

Logitech G305 (AAA Adaptor - 10g reduction) (Would recommend)

Logitech Z150

HyperX Cloud II (Would recommend)

Moto G5 Plus (Webcam)

Phone

Pixel 3A XL (Would recommend)

gtx 1660s costs around 240 dollars which is around your budget

Not thought about the 1660 so good shout. Just had a luck and some seem to fall into budget.

I had previously ruled out 1650 as some posts I’d seen didn’t suggest it was “much” of an upgrade.

I’ll keep an eye out for 1070’s though as that would be preferred.

was partly thinking RX580 as seemed to be a fair upgrade to the 780. Also I’ve never gone for AMD GPUs, so was thinking of a bit of a change.

had this 780 for 5yrs now, originally had it with an i5 that died (and prompted the change to the FX8320)

would my overall build of the following be fairly decent with an 1070, 1660 or 580 depending which I can get at the time? (Ryzen5 3600, MSI B450A ProMax, 16gb 2666mhz)

Given the cards that have been mentioned, the 1070 and 1660 Super should be pretty comparable performance wise to each other, some titles may favor one over the other and vice versa. And both would be faster than an RX 580. If talking a base 1660 (non-Ti, non-Super) then the 1070 would probably edge it out.
