I am learning more about my journey into liquid cooling and I have come across some saying that the GPU block should get the coldest water in the loop which should be right after the front rad pulls in ambient air from the front of the case. However, all this heat picked up from the GPU and coming out goes straight into the CPU. Seems like a lot of unnecessary heat for the CPU to take on.

 

Instead, I was thinking of coming out of the GPU and going to a rad mounted on top of the case then back down to the CPU and from there res => pump => front rad.

 

So to sum up my first ever loop plans: front rad => gpu block => top rad > cpu block => res/pump => front rad

 

Am I doing it right?

A conventional loop will have the flow sufficiently fast in that the order in which rads and blocks are encountered does not matter. Any segment of water is constantly whizzing around the whole loop and so the whole loop heats up and cools down as a whole. I.e. there is no "hot water coming out of the GPU" or "cold water coming out of the radiator".

 

Therefore, order does not matter, as long as the reservoir is before the pump

Do what looks best. I tend to try and make a circle out of mine.
