This is my first build, ever. It is not done yet and I really need some tips from people who know what they are talking about. Please tell me if I could get something better for almost same price. I have no knowledge on how to build PC or how the hardware function, so please do keep that in mind when speaking to me. Here is the setup so far: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/UsV0

Thank you.

HDD is 5400rpm, slow. Look for at least 7200rpm or 10000rpm. No Aftermarket heatsink?

OK, you can get a 2x4GB memory kit for cheaper that are guaranteed to work better together.

The sound card is PCI, you'll probably want a PCEe one (they have an X on the end of their names)

He're is a basic fix up but we'd really need to know more about what you want and what you want to do.

The computer is going to be used for gaming.

- The sound card you added only support 5.1, I need one that supports 7.1 surround sound.

- I'll add peripherals later.

I am completely new to this so please have that in mind, I know literally NOTHING about hardware, so I rely on the information you are giving me. Please help me finish my setup.
I am not going to be playing games like Crysis 3. I'll be playing BF3, DayZ and Arma 3.

EDIT: I changed it up to match what you guys told me: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Uttl

added peripherals, new CPU, using the motherboard you suggested, new Memory (RAM), new 7200RPM harddisk which you suggested, new soundcard ending with X which you suggested. How does it look now? $1500 is a lot I think, but I think the hardware is great! Suggestions are still welcome! If you know any 24" or 22" with 120hz that is cheaper (maybe even better) than my current monitor, then please tell me.

Sound card probably is though it depends on what you're running them to bare in mind most motherboard have 7.1 out if you don't need the better sound quality.  Go with the DX or the DSX.

The Z77MA-G45 is mATX. If you're going with a sound card you can't fit a second graphics card on it ever. The full size Z77a-G45 doesn't support SLI. Z77a-G45 Gaming looks good though.

The A50 is kinda weak.

Also I'd try to get ram without fins on the top to avoid any clearance issues.
