9600k with 3080?

I have a 9600k @ 5 ghz, and I'm thinking of upgrading my 1080 to a 3080. Will it have trouble keeping up? I play at 1440p 144hz, mostly games like overwatch, valorant, and Apex legends. Thoughts?

Anything that doesn't use more than 6 cores will run just fine. If the Cpu pins 100% in w/e game, more cores/threads would be ideal upgrade.

Hey thanks for the reply. Yeah I mean if the cpu is 100 percent used then obviously I'm bottlenecked I just mean if anyone has a better idea than me on how likely that is to happen

Does your 9600K pin 100% now? If not the Cpu usage won't go up from a gpu swap if that's what you're asking...

No, it doesn't. I feel like i'm missing something haha. Wouldn't adding a faster gpu (so more frames), push the cpu harder to prepare them faster? Sorry if I am being dumb.

Not really no. 

Your cpu IPC is high enough that there isnt an issue. 

 

If you was using an AMD FX processor, I'd say that would be a losing battle lol. That would be major bottle necking.
