(Updated with a different PSU that was suggested.)

Hello folks,

I'm fairly new to pc building. with how expensive console gaming is starting to get I've been thinking about building a cheap gaming rig. I already have a video card, a case, hard drives, monitor, keyboard and mouse but need some input on these other components i've selected. money is tight so i'm looking for good performance for good prices.

Here's the pc part picker list i've put together:

CPU:  Intel Core i3-4130 3.4GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($118.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard:  ASRock H81M-HDS Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($49.99 @ Microcenter)
Memory:  Team 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($74.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply:  Corsair Builder 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($29.99 @ Newegg)
Operating System:  Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($84.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $358.94
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

as far as the graphics card goes i have a radeon HD5450, not a great card but when i bought it it was very cheap and a big upgrade from my dying radeon x1600 Pro.

the over all goal with this build is a cheap rig that i can upgrade as i get the funds, and after doing some research i found most games still use less then 8gb of ram, and very few make use of quad cores so far. the games i've been wanting to play range from older ones like fallout 3 all the way up too planetside 2. i'm no graphics monger, i'm mainly interested in smooth frame rates and decent load times. i feel this build leaves me room to grow and expand without breaking me wallet wise.
what are your folks thoughts on the matter and what would you swap out of this list?
keep in mind my first upgrade would be a newer graphics card after this is built. probably to an msi r7770 radeon.

seems good, you didnt cheap out on any component.

i'd personally get a litte bit bigger PSU (like 600 watts) because it will give you more headroom and you wont have to upgrade your PSU when you do upgrade you system.

ITX Monster: CPU: I5 4690K GPU: MSI 970 4G Mobo: Asus Formula VI Impact RAM: Kingston 8 GB 1600MHz PSU: Corsair RM 650 SSD: Crucial MX100 512 GB HDD: laptop drive 1TB Keyboard: logitech G710+ Mouse: Steelseries Rival Monitor: LG IPS 23" Case: Corsair 250D Cooling: H100i

Mobile: Phone: Broken HTC One (M7) Totaly Broken OnePlus ONE Samsung S6 32GB   Tablet: Google Nexus 7 2013 edition

For budget builds, typically it's best to go with AMD, especially just for gaming. At those lower pricepoints, AMD just makes more since. Unfortunately, I'm not an AMD expert (I've only made one AMD rig and it was super low-end) but hopefully others can give more specific suggestions or you can do your own research.

430 watts is a little small, if you say you're planning on upgrading. 550-600 would probably be better for the same price.

Workstation: i7-4930k | Asus Rampage IV Gene | Reference GTX 780 | 32GB Crucial Ballistix | 500GB Samsung 840 EVO | Corsair RM650 | MidNight Black BitFenix Prodigy M

Old Rigi5-2500k @ 4.7 GHz | Asus P8P67 Deluxe | EVGA GTX 560 | 16GB Corsair Vengeance | 240 GB Samsung 830 Pro | 1TB Hitachi | CoolerMaster Storm Scout (1)

thanks for the replies guys, i went with intel because it's what i know. i thought the psu was a bit weak but the prices of them seem to jump all over the place. Though i have been told antec is a good brand as is corsair. i'll look into that psu.

To put the above build in prospective my current rig is an asus board with a pentium 4 processor running at 3.6 ghz with 2GB of ddr2 ram, and toasted power supply by a power(big mistake, never buy a 30 buck psu from an off brand. lol)
