Anyone know a bit about this? I just noticed it in the latest beta update but i don't know if its implemented yet because i cant find it anywhere in the menu.

no, it plays your own music that you have on your computer.

Am I the only one who thinks Steam should try to become a complete electronic media hub?

 

They already have the game angle covered, add music and movies to the HTPC experience and they should have a nice little corner of the market blanketed.
