My system shuts down every time I try to access my storage drive. Simply opening it in file manager causes my whole computer to turn off. It is definitely that drive because under normal operation like browsing the web or even gaming my pc is totally fine. It may be infected because I read online that viruses can cause the system to shut down and I do think that is my issue because I tried to run malwarebytes and even that triggered a shutdown. Any info helps thanks in advance!

Now that's interesting. Try running chkdsk and check for damaged sectors. Run it with the parameter /f, it will repair them before the next boot.
