I'm basically just looking for anyone who has any advice/experience with this type of thing.

(It's worth noting I'm very inexperienced)

This my Motherboard;

MSI Z270 GAMING PRO CARBON
PCI-E X1  = 3
PCI-E X16 = 3

I'm looking to eventually have a 6 GPU rig for GPU extensive tasks.
For my purpose, I think the speed difference between x1 and x16 is very small.
I'm assuming the PCI-E slots highlighted blue, are indeed PCI-E X1; and will require risers?
Also, are the new GPU models 3070/3080/3090 compatible with my Motherboard?
Then plan is to pair 6 total GPUs with 32GB DDR4-3000 ram, and my i7-7700k with a 1500W PSU.

Not many programs can use more than 1 gpu.  Games used to work in sli/crossfire but not that many anymore. You have to be using video editing or 3D rendering software to use all gpus.

I wont even get into the hardware limitations or space requirements

It's for Hashcat lol. Trust me 6 GPUs regardless of model are good. More GPUs the merrier - storage space isn't an issue either. I'm just worried about compatibility/issues with risers etc.

oh well that will be interesting to see
