Zepherus G14 R9 Stock situation

Hi All,

 

I recently had to ship my Thinkpad off for warranty repair (which is taking much longer than I expected) and realised how crippled that made my ability to do work. I decided to get a second laptop and the G14 ticked all the boxes.

 

I looked around and at the time, nowhere had stock, so I preordered from my preferred supplier in the UK (Scan.co.uk) as they were expecting a delivery at the end of the month (31st Aug).

I checked the order last night and it seems to have been delayed a month, with all other retailers still showing out of stock.

 

so I figured maybe there would be a decent alternative available elsewhere, but ASUS have had exclusive rights to the top end Ryzen 9 CPU?!

Probably a great situation for AMD... but only if people can actually buy the laptop.

 

I’m curious if anyone else in the UK also had this on pre-order, and if so have you had a unit dispatched?

Seems a bit odd that ASUS would have exclusive rights to a part, but still struggle to meet demand, or perhaps there is a different supply chain issue playing a part in this?

 

Let me know any thoughts, or if you know a good slim and portable laptop with the top end AMD chips that I have overlooked (not interested in the Dell or TUF), I’d also be interested in checking it out.
 

I’ll probably see if I can chat with someone at Scan to find out what’s happened and will report back if I hear anything.

The 4800H will perform almost the same as the 4900S, and sometimes better. Availability in the UK is a bit scarce though. 

The XMG Core 15 is great, but it's out of stock till October I believe.

The HP Omen 15 is good too, but I don't think it's on sale yet in the UK

PC specialists have some you can configure yourself with the 4800H, but I'm not sure what the quality of these laptops is like
