Hi everyone,

I’ve been improving my home desk over time since WFH began but I’m running into issues with cable overload and am looking for help.

I have a windows desktop I built and play games on, and I have a MacBook Pro I use for work. My monitor had a single DisplayPort 2.0 output and a single HDMI. I’m currently running the DisplayPort to my GPU and the HDMI to my work laptop. I have to switch the input in the monitor menu to change devices. I also bought a KVM switch and attached my mouse, keyboard, and microphone. So after I switch devices I have to push a button on there as well.

So I’ve made progress from the total chaos I had before, but my KVM switch is really ugly and there are cables sticking out of it in every which way; it has to sit on my desk so I can reach it. If possible I would like to find an elegant way to control both the video and usb inputs through one device. It has to support Mac and Windows devices and I need to be able to connect to the usb c ports on the MacBook, but also the usb type a 2.0 on my desktop.

What do you do with your desk? How would you improve my setup?

Thanks!

First off I think i'd switch to bluetooth mouse and keyboard (at least for working) just to remove cables. the mx master, for example can have 3 devices in memory and there are keyboards, like the ones that keychron make. that are both bluetooth and switchable between devices and OS
