whats wrong with my game

so my vr system has an i7 6700 4.0 a gtx 1070 gaming x clocked close to 2mhz and 16 gigs of ram ddr4 and with my rift s on boneworks it often dips to 40fps on every setting possible i saw other people playing with a 1070 smoothly and just wanna know why its like that and how can i fix this.. supersampling is off btw
