I recently got a $35 hp elitebook 2560p for college it was bios locked and there was no battery now it runs windows and does school stuff fine. I ordered a new battery and charger it won't charger the battery the battery gets power I updated the chipset and most other drivers but still no luck the battery shows up in bios aswell

I know they do, I've run across issues with IBM/Lenovo specifically, but I have seen it in HP and Dell laptops to a lesser extent.

so just try another battery and hope for the best ?

Unlikely to be honest, this is a hard-coded whitelist and the BIOS won't let you change this (in my experience with IBM/Lenovo specifically)

To be honest, I"d get a real OEM battery, and see what happens.
