If you need some help for cases, I recommend checking out some of gamersnexus's case reviews and best of the year to find a good fit for you. They mostly focus on performance rather than looks or form factor though.

As for the motherboard, at a $140 you could buy one of the better B550 boards unless it's cheaper in your country to get that x370. Also with x370, there is no chance of it supporting 4th gen ryzen so even a b450 board would be better and cheaper unless you need a feature of that x370.

You might want to get a better PSU, thats one of the few things you don't want to cheap out on. Take a look at the PSU tier list, your current one is at tier D, maybe see if you can get a slightly better one. Maybe this seasonic one https://www.newegg.com/seasonic-s12iii-bronze-series-ssr-550gb3-550w/p/N82E16817151227 80 plus bronze for about the same price. I'm not sure if you've noticed but the PSU you currently have selected is on backorder.

Though you didn't ask for this, If I were you and I could wait I would probably wait, Big Navi, RTX 3000 and ryzen 4th gen are all expected to be announced in the next month or coming couple months. Which either means prices drop for ryzen 3rd gen and older gpu's or you can get better performance at the same price. If you can't wait though, you can't.

Go with a H510 from NZXT or one from Corsair's Spec series, they are good if you are on a budget. BTW might I also enquire as to why not stick with a B550 instead of x370? you will get future upgradability and save some money for LTT Zip ties.

Brought to you Buy LTTSTORE.COM

The PSU was just available locally so I thought of getting at but ill have a look.

There are some high end B550s or go for x570s as in some markets, some x570s go cheaper than B550s (IKR ? Like in my region).

There is one particular Motherboard from Gigabyte and a few from AsRock and  MSI, I believe

On newegg both b550s and x570s are more expensive??

Yeah I was thinking about that but how much price drop would there really be? Expecting to shave off a few dollars?

Yeah, I don't really see RTX 3000 becoming affordable and big navi is likely going to be a month or so after RTX 3000. Also there aren't many motherboards that have dual lan ports that aren't very expensive that are either b550 or x570 so 4th gen ryzen won't matter at this price point since you'll likely have to go with that x370 since you need the dual lan ports.

MS2020

FS2020 on a 5500XT will be rough.  Honestly, anything below a RTX 2060/5700 I wouldn’t recommend buying new. If at all possible, I’d wait for discounted RTX 2060 or RX 5700/5600XTs after RTX 3000 and Big Mavi

Current System: Ryzen 7 3700X, Noctua NH L12 Ghost S1 Edition, 32GB DDR4 @ 3200MHz, MAG B550i Gaming Edge, 1TB WD SN550 NVME, SF750, RTX 3080 Founders Edition, Louqe Ghost S1

Yeah exactly. My other roption was to buy a usb3. 1 to ethernet dongle but would you say that's a better idea? Getting a b450/b550 at the same price point and using a dongle?

I'm having a hard time getting second hand parts locally, and the RX 5700 will absolutely crush my budget :(

When RTX 3000 comes out, see if you can snag a 1660 Super or something like that for a similar price to a 5500 XT

I'm not sure what kind of speeds you would need for that second lan port and I have no experience working with 2 lan ports so the only thing I can say is that 4th gen ryzen looks extremely promising in terms of performance. The 4th gen ryzen laptops blow intel laptops of the same price out of the water. 4th gen ryzen for desktop is likely gonna be a beast all around, could even take the gaming crown from intel. Theres a 30%ish expected performance boost from ryzen 3rd gen. The main thing though is the price, 4th gen ryzen is expected to be about the same price as 3rd gen ryzen so a ryzen 5 4600 is expected to have the same or similar msrp as the ryzen 5 3600. Which means you can get alot more performance if you used a cheaper b550/b450. Only real issue though is that 4th gen ryzen is likely gonna be annouced when big navi is announced which is expected to be near the end of the year.

Yah, I've reconsidered going for a b550 mobo, i guess i shall wait to see the price point for ryzen 4600.

Any recommendations for a good mobo below 140USD?
