Hello, I was thinking about getting the 2013 14' Razer Blade. But I am wondering is there a possibility of them coming out with a newer one this year that will improve on the current one? The current one is nearly perfect and looks like what I want, but if there's a new one coming this year I would want it instead.

Yeah it's display improvements I'm looking for. I'm fine with the 900p resolution, I actually prefer it over 1080p in this case. The GTX 765m in there isn't suited for gaming at 1080p at high settings. So you'd either have to run below native resolution which looks bad, or  lower the graphics settings to maintain the native res.

It's the viewing angle I'm worried about. I just hate it when screens look all shitty and discolored because your not looking at them directly.

The display is still crappy TN.

I can't stand TN on a mobile device, they are the worst, with really short view angles, probably due that the panel needs to be small... that or be really cheap to make laptops more affordable, which was the initial goal of TN panels.. make LCD screen affordable no mater what.

My old laptop is 900p (1440x900) 14inch LG TN, non glossy. oh boy it was crap. But at the time it was fine. It was also high res. Sadly TN panel on laptop didn't really get better.I just find it a shame we are in 2013, and Razor used this cheapo monitor on an otherwise awesome system. It just kills it.

Using my Surface Pro 2, 1080p display, now looking at my laptop, it looks like I am looking at a 800x600 display. heh.

We can generally expect most companies to refresh their product lines when new hardware comes out that they can use.. In the case of the Blade, we can expect a new model as soon as there are either new CPUs or new GPUs. If Nvidia releases their GTX 800M-series GPUs soon, it would make sense that Razer would update the Blade to the new GPUs.

As for whether or not this update will be a massive change or just a minor spec bump, we have no idea..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

Isn't IPS not very good for gaming though? They have slow response times.

Something I wanna know is how bad is the blade's TN panel? Is it really worse than a typical TN?

Yeah I'm looking for a gaming Ultrabook (or very close) and the only competitor to the Blade is the Gigabyte P34G. I'm not liking that one as much since it's slightly bulkier and has a GTX 760M instead of a 765 like the Blade does.

Back in 2006-07, yes.

About since 2009, at the consumer level, IPS panel were plenty fast for FPS gaming.

Since then they got even faster competing very closely to TN best offerings.

A bit faster, then you can expect 120Hz IPS panel. Maybe in 1 or 2 more generations.
