PSU for a mid tier system around 80 dollars?

Bistrus

My specs are the following:

CPU: i7-8700k, running at 4.6Ghz
GPU: RTX 2070 Super

RAM: 16GB 3200mhz

SSD: 1x 256GB and 1x 512GB both MX crucial

HD: 1x500GB 7,2k rpm
5x fan, 1 fan controller, and the usal USB devices (headset, keyboard and mouse)

I've been using a CX550m (green label, thus the old model) for the past 5 years. I does not give me any problems, but i've been thinking that maybe it's time to swap it before it gives me any problems due to age. I have around 80 dollars ( i can go a little bit higher if it's worth it) as a budget. Any help is appreciated!

a little over 80 bucks, but is a good unit, also look for the pure power 11 500w and the focus gm and the AMP 550w which should be around 80 to 90 bucks..

Is that the one that is Tier 1 in the PSU list?

For a PSU upgrade it is best to think about what needs you will have in the future.

At some point you may want the get a Nvidia 3000 card and 550 watts may not be enough.

You also a some point want to overclock your i7 8700k and some use up to 200 watts doing it.

None my old brand name PSUs have failed and they are much older than 5 years.

I would wait and save to get more watts.

Not sure what you mean by that but a tx550m is a good psu.

I see. Thanks. Is the 650 w version good too? That way i would have more leeway in case of future power hungry upgrades

Well your system doesn't consume more than 300ish Watts at worst so a 550w is still more than enough for the most part.
