Budget (including currency): 1200-1500 USD (A bit more flexible than this if necessary)

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly general gaming but want it to be able to smoothly run VR games if possible.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Would like to play at least 1080p at 144hz.. I don’t know a lot about most of the more technical aspects but I will most likely not OC at least at first just because I hope to not have the need. I don’t care to save money on storage at the moment, will most likely be adding more later either way and same with RAM. Also not sure as far as waiting on new GPU releases

This is the current list I put together

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9Hhzq3

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor  ($289.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($209.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory  ($168.98 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive  ($87.31 @ Amazon)
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER  ($699.99 @ Best Buy)
Case: Phanteks Eclipse P500A D-RGB ATX Mid Tower Case  ($137.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair RM (2019) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply  ($139.99 @ Best Buy)
Total: $1734.23

i’m guessing the 7 3700x it’s not necessary as well as the motherboard? Frankly I’d like to leave room for upgrading my GPU possibly but not sure on it. Also won’t lie, wouldn’t mind a free copy of assassin’s creed Valhalla.

Not in a hurry to build btw..

Thanks to anyone who helps, and sorry if I’m completely incompetent

assassin’s creed Valhalla.

Previous assassin games eat CPUs for breakfast so 3700x isnt a bad idea, so is 32GB memory. It's overspending the board and SSD that I think is problematic. You just pay a lot more for brand permium.

Yea I’ll probably end up waiting. Just because I’m curious, if I’m not over clocking the CPU will the stock cooler work until I can throw a bit more into it Or should I go ahead and get one? My last PC build was not Quite as powerful as this planned one so not sure on cooling set ups..

Also was the MB change just to save money or is it a better option?

The stock cooler will be fine if you are not overclocking but probably slightly louder. The mobo change was to save money, the Asus one you chose has slightly better VRMs so you could get that if you have the budget but is not necessary.
