GPU dying? Cannot install drivers and cannot use multiple monitors.

Hi there!

 

So earlier today I was using my pc as normal and. I was in the middle of watching netflix when suddenly one of my 2 screens turned black. I opened up display settings, saw that both were recognized by the pc but I could not start the one which turned black. I kept getting the error "The display settings could no bve saved" when trying to extend the desktop to that screen.

 

I restarted the pc, and had the same issues. I thought, maybe something is wierd with the graphics card driver so i went and downloaded the latest nvidia drivers (452.06). When trying to install them I kept getting stuck on the  "checking compatibility" part of the install. 

 

I installed avast, ran a full scan of the system searching for malware that maybe caused this wierd behavior and when I found nothing, uninstalled it again and took the question to google.

 

Many people gave the advice to use DDU to get rid of every trace of the old nvidia driver before trying to install it again. So I restarted the pc in safe mode and used DDU. After a successful uninstall the pc rebooted into windows. Still only 1 screen working at this point. 

 

I tried installing the regular driver, the studio driver, which i understand have better stability, and even geforce experience but all of the above get stuck in the middle of installing.

 

After this i shut down the pc and tried to reseat the graphics card and still nothing. The only thing i've done that has done anyting is removing the DVI cable connecting my working monitor to the pc and switching DisplaPort-output on the back of the graphics card for my other monitor. I then could get the first monitor to start working again, but as soon as a I plug the DVI cable back in, the first screen goes black again. And now only the DVI connected monitor even shows up in display settings.

 

So here we are. I am  thinking that my graphics card is failing on me but don't have enough knowledge to know for sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
