Budget (including currency): ~75k CZK (around 3.5k USD)

Country: Czech Republic

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I would like to play such games as Cyberpunk77 or heavily modded Skyrim

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I have LG 43UD79-B-4k monitor. It can do 4k@60hz, but the goal is to play (atleast) on Full HD with ~90 fps.

I do not feel confident messing around in UEFI, nor overclocking anything.

I do not own a PC, so I'm not upgrading from anything, but I have a mouse and a keyboard.

I am not an RGB fan, I prefer modest, black chassis, with no glass.

A friend of mine made a build. Thing is, I heard that AMD is a better option right now, as it offers more threads (/ better motherboard options ?) in exchange for slightly slower boost speeds.

I would like to know another person's opinion on this.

Thanks

yeah, amd provides a higher core count and cheaper, but still quality motherboard options in exchange for lower clocks. they provide better value right now compared to intel. unless you have the budget for a 10900k, amd seems the way to go

ah yes thank you very much we must bring down the max-rgb cult

since you will most likely be going with ryzen, ryzen doesnt have much room to overclock anyway, so you neednt

worry about that.

all in all, since you have a budget of more than 3000 USD, it would seem better to wait till new generation gpus and cpus launch.

nvidia 3000 series is expected to be revealed on 1st september, and nvidia have almost confirmed it on their geforce website and twitter page

amd big navi is expected to release shortly before the new gen consoles release

AMD Zen3 (4000 series) has been confirmed to launch in Q4 of 2020

😕

your friend made you a decent build. I would wait for the release of the 3000 series cards, as they are a few weeks away. the psu is a bit overkill, 650W would be enough.

otherwise it's looking good. Maybe your friend can also help you overclock the ram and the 10700k to unlock it's full potential.

You can save a lot of money at the CPU-side. With 4K even the Ryzen 5 3600 will perform exactly the same as your 10700K because at this resolution the bottleneck will be 100% GPU. A 3600 + B450 Tomahawk Max Mobo is only about 270€ in germany and cheaper than the 10700K alone. If you don't care about RGB and looks you can save a lot of money. As soon as you cross ~2500€ (or $) there is not much more performance to be had, so i'd just set the rest of the money aside.

This is basically as high as i would go for a 4K gaming-only PC, anything more expensive will not really give you more performance, too: (the 2080Ti is just a placeholder, i'd strongly recconmmend to get the new 3000 series equivalent like a 3080/3080Ti/3090 in a month for 4K gaming)

Price for this is ~ 50000 CZK

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

I’m disagreeing with this as Intel’s midrange CPU (the 10600k) at stock beats AMD’s Flagship CPU (the 3950x) at 4.3GHz with 3200MHz CL14 RAM in games.

I don’t see why you would choose AMD.

my bad, i didnt see the build he had put in a link for. i misinterpreted it as he wanted to go with AMD anyway and was asking about the core count and clocks. mistake was on my end oops
