Recently had to move my setup away from the router so I can no longer use an Ethernet cable to connect to the internet. I have an asrock fatal1ty professional gaming x370 MOBO and it has built in WiFi on it. On FPS games like Valorant, CSGO, COD etc my ping spikes all over the place. I usually have around 15 ping and it will jump to 100-200 at random times. Before switching over to WIFI my internet was perfect. Some days theres no spikes but most days there are. Im wondering if theres a fix to this?

You can fix lag and ping spikes introduced by WiFi by switching back to wired, however, I get that this might not be feasible now taht you've moved things away from where the router is located. If that's the case, I'd recommend upgrading from your motherboards' built-in WiFi chipset to something of higher quality / range with external antenna on a long extension so you can reposition them if needed.

If you're going to be gaming with WiFi, ping spikes will occur randomly. It's just the nature of WiFi.

What I suspect is happening is that you're getting a lot of interference from other WiFi networks or EMI in the area. Although you wouldn't be able to completely remove all of this interference, you can try optimizing your WiFi settings. Before you do this, run WiFi Analyzer (free on Microsoft Store) on the gaming PC and post screenshots of the 'Networks' and 'Analyze' (for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz) tabs. We'll look at them and see which settings need to change on your wireless router.

The other thing to do is to segregate your 2.4GHz and 5GHz SSIDs by giving them different names. Then connecting low-priority devices (like smart TVs, IoT gear, etc.) to 2.4GHz and connecting high-priority devices (like your computer, phone, etc.) to 5GHz. I know some wireless routers claim they can do this through "band steering" but not all brands implement this feature properly. Doing this will allow your important devices to not compete with your unimportant devices for the same radio.
