Hello I bought a r 5 1600 and it turned out to be 8c/16t which is lucky so i bought a b450 tomahawk max to oc it as far as i could so ran some settings from videos i found but couldnt understand much of it but as little as I could get of the information I set vcore llc to mode 3 and soc llc to mode 3 and set 1.36 vcore and cpu at 3.9ghz as you  can see in the screen shot it worked like a charm but when it tried it at 4.0 ghz it compleated cinebench once as you can see after crashing 3 times but i cant seem to get it stable with even 1.39 vcore since I dont know much about voltage i would like some advice if it is even possible to get it to 4.0 without too much hasel or sould i just stick with the setting it got . Any advice would be appriciated .

Thank you

ryzen 1600 are not 8 core 16 thread chips :P Something is amiss, besides that 1st gen ryzen struggled to do 4 ghz so keep that in mind.

Thata not how it works...

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

No something is wrong. It isnt like you bought a cpu and it magically grew new cores.

Where did you get this chip. A 1600 only has 6 cores, and physically doesn't have 8. Did you buy this from some sketchy site that you might've gotten an engineering sample or someone scammed you into a FX chip. Only a 1800X with an overclock can get 1700 in cinebench.

@Shimejii @TheTechWizardThatNeedsHelp @Darpyface sometimes, very rarely that chipmakers will sell a lower tier product without actually disabling the features

Sometimes it's not stable though, if it's supposed to be disabled but isn't

But sometimes they just forgot to disable it to sell as lower tier product to meet market demands

OP might just be the lucky one if that's the case

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

@Moonzy thank you finally some one believes me can you help me oc it.

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with CPU OC

I just tweak CPU peak voltage and core clock in Ryzen master and that's it

watch this

and get into bios and start increasing adjustments 10 mhz by 10 mhz, just remember voltage is last resort. OC its not that hard today with new mobos.

back in the old days we just have this lanpartys.
