So i'm starting my next year at uni and I really need a laptop that is light and portable, but capable of light gaming.

At the moment it would be silly to get anything other than any of the new 4000s laptops that are coming out but is there really anything that suits the criteria?

I have seen the g14 and thought it was amazing but its lacking in touchscreen functionality, its very useful for me because i tend to draw quite alot and its very useful for note taking.

Any ideas?

My understanding is there are back order problems and getting ahold of an AMD 4xxx laptop at all can be a trick by itself.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Linus recently did a review on the HP envy 360

It may not be powerful enough for what you want though.

But you can get it with a 4700u which is a 8 core. And the vega graphics are ok, but nowhere close to the G14's power.

I was looking but I'm afraid it ticks all but a gpu, which is rather important for the gaming component. Finding a laptop with ryzen plus a dedicated gpu and touchscreen is starting to be very difficult

After looking for a while I have to agree. The g14 is the only laptop I can actually seem to buy at the moment.
