Guys could someone tell me what type of panel(TN,IPS,VA,PLS etc) does my Samsung SyncMaster B2230 use? I tried finding it online but to no avail. I know there are visual tests that help determine what panel but I would really like to see a proper source that tells me exactly what type it has got. Please help.

Thank you.

I believe it uses TN panels. I personally haven't found any IPS monitor from Samsung, but they do have PLS monitors which is better than IPS, but also way more expensive than IPS monitors.

Samsung makes IPS panels.

They were making Super-IPS, and now PLS which replaces Super-IPS or S-IPS for short.

PLS is nothing more than a revision to its Super-IPS technology. Every manufcature have their version of IPS panel, mostly its to avoid patent disputes. The entire subset of IPS panel type are: P-IPS, H-IPS, AH-IPS, eIPS, E-IPS, S-IPS, and now PLS (you have others, but discontinued, if I am not mistaken)

Unless you seek for something really specific, they all have their strength and weaknesses which floats at arround 5-10% difference, and are not very visible, and are all comprable, as if it's ~10% better at something, it's ~10% worst at something esle.

Your Samsung SyncMaster B2230 is a TN panel. If it's not the specs sheet, it's a TN. Also the view angle confirms this.

Usually it's not marketing wise to mention a negativeon the box, so they don't.
