for 1080p gaming theres no point, this is assuming you are playing at that resolution. The ONLY reason I upgraded from a gtx 680 (similar to the 7970) to a 780 ti was because I switched over to the ever demanding 1440p resolution.

If you can already play all the games that you want to at 60 fps, I don't see why you would need a 780ti.

As i said i'm hella materialistic :)

So would you say 780ti's are only worth it for 4k?

For 4k, the 3GB frame buffer starts to be an issue. You really want 4GB like on the radeon cards, or the titan black with it's 6GB. It might not be an issue in all games, but it's for sure an issue in some.

Desktop: AMD Threadripper 1950X @ 4.1Ghz Enermax 360L  Gigabyte Aorus Extreme   Zotac 1080Ti AMP Extreme  BeQuiet! Dark Base Pro 900  EVGA SuperNova 1000w G2  LG 34GK950f & ASUS PA248Q Klipsch Reference/Audeze Mobius

Synology Wireless AC-2600

Laptop: Alienware 17R5   Intel i7 8750H  Nvidia GTX1080   3840x2160 4k AdobeRGB IGZO Display   32GB DDR4 2133   256GB+1TB NVMe SSD    1TB Seagate SSHD   Killer 1550 Dual-Band Wireless AC

No just perfect for ultra settings at 1440p. At 4k it's not bad for like medium settings.
