I just realized that the Temp. threshold for my ryzen 7 2700X is 85 not 95 degrees. Somehow, it has gotten to 90 degrees and survived, but probably not for much longer before it burns out. I have been using the stock cooler for a couple months now, my question is would the cpu temp going over threshold and still surviving lower the lifespan of the chip, mobo or something else, therefore, should I buy just a new cpu cooler or would a new cpu/mobo be a better choice. I am just worried that transistors would die or something (pun not intended) and shorted the lifespan of the thing.

5°C is going to harm the CPU, and it's smart enough to throttle itself to keep from dying. Your CPU should still live out its useful life.

The max temperature is 95 C, that's why it throttles at that temperature. High temperatures causing shorter life is primarily a problem with NAND flash (SSDs), CPU failure is generally caused by thermal expansion causing mechanical wear or extreme voltage shorting it internally. In other words, consistent large temperature swings are usually what kills CPUs, not heat by itself, and even then it will usually take more than a decade.

 

That said, this is a strangely high temperature for an un-overclocked Ryzen processor with the stock cooler. Is this doing normal tasks or in a synthetic load test?
