Budget (including currency): 250 usd

Country: Trinidad (The one above venezuela)

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft, valorant, Visual Basic

Current system

Intel Pentium G4560 (Stock Cooler)

MSI B20M Pro-VD

Generic 8gb Ram stick

Nvidia GTX 1050ti.

EVGA Bronze 500 watt power supply

Crucial mx500 250gb m.2 ssd

Looking to upgrade my current system but im not sure if i should buy a 1151 processor and spend all 200 of my budget on a used i7-7700k  or i should switch to a ryzen 5 3400g for 150 and grab a dirt cheap motherboard.

Avoiding overclocking because i need the pc for school and i cant afford to replace it if something goes wrong.

Don't care about the gpu i only have a 1080p monitor and i don't play anything graphically intensive so ill run it till it dies

Issues im facing

1) Ram i have is dirt cheap and slow speed, i think its 2400 mhz so im not sure if it will go well with a ryzen chip

2) Not sure if i will be able to get a gen 3 motherboard for the 50 usd or if i would have to go back to gen 2

3) Shipping is a bitch, and it will cost about  25 usd per item.

4) Im worried about buying used because i will be sending the item to a freight forwarder who will then ship it to me which will take a week to me and a week to go back so if something is wrong my return window may close before i can send it back.

5) if i buy an intel chip i can throw some of the shipping money to the processor but im not sure that small amount of money will actually get me to a better processor.

6) Due to the fact that im not from the us im not sure if some of the smaller sites will accept a non us credit card, as ive had that issue before.

7) Should i take a ryzen 3 and get new ram as well and stay inside the budget

8 ) Should i take a gen 1 ryzen 5 / 7 with a dirt cheap motherboard (cause no overclocking intended) and higher speed ram.

9) Should i wait a 3ish months for new releases and prices of older stuff to drop.

10) Should i wait 6 months for a budget expansion of a 200 usd because at the moment the pc runs well .

11) Local stores arent the best value for money thanks to high  import taxes on motherboards and cpus but for some reason no tax on any other components.

Honestly, the bones are still there. I would get a used 7700 (non-k) and a decent cooler.

Agreed. With your board and lack of interest in overclocking, the 7700 would be the best option. For coolers, go with a standard air cooler like the Hyper 212.

If you want to upgrade further, I recommend either getting a matching DIMM to get dual channel, or--if it's more practical--just get a whole new 2x8 kit entirely, possibly at a much higher speed, should you decide even later to make the switch to Ryzen.

I just saw this. Any upgrade that you don't need is superfluous.

Upgrading is not completely superfluous because discord tanks my frames in Valorant and i would like  the ability to keep a solid 144 but i get what you are saying.
