My main steamfile has found its way onto my desktop. I have no idea whether it is safe or not to move it to my program files x86, if that is where it is supposed to be.

What steamfile the whole install? if so you may have made a game library on there if it just randomly came there reinstall it steam can get messed up if the paths are different
