Hey-

I'm looking for a EGPU for a friend. Currently only have USB 3.1 type 2 and thunderbolt 2.
Anyways I'm looking for a GPU that won't be bottlenecked by the transfer rate. Do you guys have any idea about what is the highest-performing GPU you can use at thunderbolt 2 transfer rates without a bottleneck?

If TB3 eGPU starts scaling negaitvely beyond a GTX 1060, then TB2 will do the same to something beyond a 1050 or 960 (specifically the 960 2G, since it can be had for little money for its age and performance).

No, not for PCIe signals. Computers do this to data by cutting the whole pack of data into multple packages  before sending it out to ports which are at idle (i.e. finished sending the previous package). As a result it only works with pregenerated data, not live data a graphics card sends and requests.
