Silverstone Strider Essential 700W SST-ST70F-ES (or 500W / 600W variant). Do anyone think they are good enough? Planning to buy it for my build since I can get it pretty cheap after a discount (about $25).

Ryzen 5 3600
Asrock B550M Steel Legend
8GB 3200 (x2)
2 M.2 + 2 HDD
ZOTAC GTX1050 Ti OC (No 6 pin)

Thanks

I would recommend a Corsair CX550 (Gray one) for that system & my question is how much money did/are you spending on the 1050 Ti?

Why? I can't return it anymore, bought it like last 1 or 2 years ago

Oh, i thought you bought it like this week or something, if you bought it like 2 years ago then it's ok because i thought you got ripped off for a second there.

👍

So this Silverstone PSU is not safe to use with the build right? Last thing I want is an explosion in my room LOL

I wouldn't say NOT SAFE but if you want to buy something that will last you for like 5+ years and maybe serve you as an opportunity that you can upgrade to like a 1660 Ti without changing the PSU.

The 'Strider Essential' is SilverStone's lower-tier PSUs.

If you can a 'Strider Bronze' or 'Strider Gold', they are more ideal / better.

Otherwise, from low price to high ($ USD from PCPartPicker) ... just to list a few

  • Seasonic S12iii 500W / 650W  (NOTE: There is an OLD S12ii model, this is the revised S12iii )

  • Corsair CXM 450W / 550W (80 PLUS Bronze rating, gray Corsair label)

Three of does (S12Iii, BR and Masterwatt Bronze) are shit.

Pure power 11 is good and the CX grey is good as well

Those are literally ~$50 USD PSUs ... ~$30 if not for the "human malware".

At that price point, it's either those (of Tier B and C units), or Thermaltake Smart / Sparkle / Athena / CoolMax PSUs.

I'd rather go for one of those than any of the house-fire brands, or the bottom-of-the-barrel Strider Essentials unit.

CXM / Power Power 11 / EVGA BR are in the $70 price range already.

Didn't want to recommend much higher cost PSUs, assuming OP is looking to spend as little as possible -- given $25 for the Strider Essential...
