PC stopped posting with GPU

Go to solution Solved by 5x5,

GPU is dead. Pretty normal for a 5-year-old card. Most die at about 4-5 years.

Hi

The other day my PC suddenly black screened while playing CS:GO, and after this i have not been able to get it to post with the GPU.

If i remove the GPU i can post using the onboard graphics, and i can force it to use the onboard graphics as the video output, when doing this i can boot with the GPU inserted, but i am not able to detect it in the system. When i try to use the GPU as video out, i am not able to post at all, and the PC is basically just stalling.

After the crash i opened the PC and noticed that the backplate of my GPU was extremely hot, so i fear that the GPU is toast, however i have never had any issues like this in the past and the GPU has always been relatively cool while gaming.

I have updated the drivers for the GPU and the BIOS, and cleaned the case and the GPU for dust but that didn't work.

Is my GPU toast or am i missing something?

Thanks so much

PC specs:

CPU: i5-6500

GPU: MSI R9-380

Motherboard: ASUS H110I-PLUS

PSU: fractal SFX-450W

Huh? They do?

Never had a GPU die, just bad fan bearings

Usually that's the average life spans. It's down to luck, though, so that's why all have three year warranties. Some die sooner, others later. But the general averages out at 4-5 years of constant use.

Did not know that, I've been hammering my GPUs 24/7 for the past 4 years and only 1 fan bearing have gone bad.

@OP, probably a bad GPU as 5x5 said

Could also be an unstable PSU, most likely bad GPU though

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Well, you a expect to have to change it after a year or two since 24/7 use is usually strenuous.
