Custom pc won't post to screen

When I turn on my pc, my monitor recognises its been turned on as the led light goes from amber(idle) to green(on). However the screen stays black and the normal startup doesn't happen. What ive tried so far:

1- reset CMOS, nothing happened

2- drain capacitors, turned off pc, left for 1hr, held on button for 2 mins, to drain them, tried to turn pc on again, didn't work

Any help is appreciated

And is this a brand new build? Was it working before and then something changed, or has it never worked?

It's 1 year old, it has worked fine, but I have had this problem before about 6months ago but I can't remember how I fixed it lmao I hate myself

Lol, I'm gonna just go ahead and list some common causes/fixes:

 

1. Clear CMOS by unplugging the system, draining the power, and removing the motherboard battery for several minutes before reinstalling it and booting.
2. Check that your GPU, RAM, etc are all fully seated in there slots. Remove them and re-insert them.
3. Check that the GPUs power cable is fully plugged in.
4. Check that your display cable is fully plugged in.
5. Check that your monitor is on the correct input.
6. Try a different cable, and different output from the GPU.
7. Try a different display.
8. Unplug all devices that are not required to POST (any SSDs, HDDs, Network cards, other expansion cards etc).
9. Try removing all but 1 stick of RAM, try it in every slot, then do the same with the other stick.

What's the proper way to drain the capacitors? I believe that might be the problem

unplug the machine, press the power button a few times.
