Black full screen

When I full screen games my monitor will go black the only way I can fix it is by changing the input or unplugging the monitors DP cable. Dose anyone know why this would be happening? I've already uninstalled and reinstalled my GPU drivers and it didn't seem to help. thanks for any info :)
