So I built a new machine after spending about 9 month's trouble shooting my last one.  The only component that wasn't bought new was the psu which had barely been used and the m.2 drive that had a couple years of use on it.  The PSU did not come from my old machine, m.2 is the only thing that left that build.  Other than periphs it's new.

Problem is: When gaming full screen the game will lock up and my entire machine will lock up and a hard power off is the only solution.  I haven't done extensive testing on this new machine as it's only a couple month's old.

New System:

3900x precision boost overdrive

bequit dark rock pro

32g corsair vengance pro rgb 3600 amd certified

evga 2080s XC

seasonic 850w gold psu

lsi megaraid 8x4TB

Old System:

7600k @ 5g

16g gskill tridentz

custom loop

1070fe

antec edge 750w psu

2x samsung evo 2.5" sataIII

And both of them shared this 500g 970evo nvme m.2

Is it possible that this drive is causing an issue? What should I check on it?

Or did folding for a few months degrade my new system?

Are you using a new operating system? If not, reinstall windows.

well, that's what I did on the last machine and it didn't help.  I guess that's where I should start though, it's the same install as the old machine

Update, I reinstalled and had some problems with my malware and AV not getting along and I really didn't want to go through the whole white list process so I just disabled one of them, I'm generally safe so it should be fine.  I've been using the same two for several years with no issue but it got me thinking that maybe it was the mw and av fighting on occasion that made my last PC so difficult to diagnose.  I did however disable both of them during trouble shooting so who knows, it was sporadic so it was difficult to pin down.
