I bought the Acer Predator Triton 500 last year in November for 2200€ from a well known tech store here in spain and i had to leave it in spain about 2 days after my purchase for 5 and half months untouched in a clean environment and when i got back to spain in june i decided to get back into gaming with my new laptop so i set it up and used it for a week and after i decided to play at night so i plugged in my headset and once i was done playing i pulled out the connector with minimal strength and the plastic retainer on my laptop came out with the headphone pin so i contacted the shop and they sent the laptop to the repair center and contacted me (Today) and informed me that i would have to pay 2700€ to repair it and told me that they had to replace the motherboard to fix the the little plastic piece so i denied them and told them to send my laptop back since and I'm really scratching my head isn't the guarantee supposed to cover factory defects

Here is the part I'm talking about

Hmmm https://imgur.com/a/5hDfO77

Ps:There is no physical damage and the port works but without the retainer holding the jack in place there is only audio output on only one side of the connected headset

Can you not just tape it in a little more? The port itself just seems to have broken, the plastic bit. It could be that it was partially separated from the motherboard so if you have a soldering iron you could heat up the joint so it reseals itself.

Thanks for the reply and yes i tried tapeing it it just comes back out because the laptop is thin and the surface area is less to put some tape on and no i dont have a soldering iron is there any other way you could recommend me to fix this issue

Yeah if a component just died. But this is physical damage which is generally not covered under the warranty. At least not in the US. If you had an accidental damage warranty then it would be covered. Thats how they get you.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

So if the part were broken they would fix it?

To them you broke it. So it falls under user damaged which is not covered.

They accepted its a factory defect at the store but they categorized it as a aesthetic damage

And aesthetic damage isnt covered in the warranty which is sad and dumb for the customer who spends a premium on these laptops
