audio help

so since yesterday, whenever I plug in my headphones into my laptop, the volume doesn't automatically go down (as it used to). I've tried to troubleshoot but to no avail.
I'm rocking:-
dell Inspiron 7591
(windows version:-1909)

What do you mean by "go down"? You mean muted? Or are your ears getting blown out?

 

Any recent windows update?

generally my speakers are at 100% volume. when i used to plug in my headphone , the volume would automatically drop to (say 20%) (a desired effect). However now when i plug in my headphone i get blasted with 100% volume.

I Don't remember any updates.
