So I built a new computer. Had it running for about 30 minutes then it shut off without warning and will not power on. This puzzles me because I placed all stand-offs in their correct place. I tried removing the mobo from the tower, and building it outside the case. Still won't power on. I later placed the motherboard back into the case and looked through from the cable management side of the tower and observed that the there is a plate on the back of the motherboard that was making contact with the case. I assume this is the culprit that caused this problem. Any suggestions?

The motherboard is getting power as the red LED line on the motherboard is lit up.

It just refuses to power up. Can we all agree that the motherboard is toast or is there something else it could be? I can't even get it to post. =(

System specs:

Asus Rampage IV Gene

Core i7 (LGA 2011)

8GB Memory

750W PSU

Thermaltake Heatsink

Cooler Master Cosmos SE

Its a plate holding the Voltage regulation module in place if i'm not mistaken. LGA 2011 sockets come with the back plate pre-installed. I checked for bent pins, Reseated heatsink, verified all power connections, tried to power the system w/ and w/o graphics card, 1 stick of RAM, and many other methods. Methods I tried for powering the system is the "Start" button on the motherboard itself, as well as jumping the pins that would power the system as if I pushed the power button from the case.

That black plate above the socket is what is making contact with the case.
