You aren't having dozens of people use concurrently, it's just for you and your family.  My Plex setup can do a half dozen concurrent movies/shows at the same time. Very low usage.

Budget (including currency): As cheap as possible ($AUD)

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Media / File server.

OK is this build enough for a basic media server?

I intend to take out the 3 3.5" HDD's from my current gaming all in one rig and put them into a small media/file server.

Will these specs be enough or should I upgrade anything? will 8gb ram be enough or should I get 16gb? going to use onboard video of the 3200G so shouldn't need a GPU of any sort, not playing games or anything, probably wont even have a monitor cause ill set up remote desktop or something.

The extra $99 at the bottom is for my computer store to put it all together + warranty, but I can always do it my self to save a bit of $ but not really fussed, warranty is nice if anything goes wrong I can just take back to store.

Ok well putting in a A3000G, 2 x 4gb RAM and taking out windows brings in down to $561, which is a lot better.

I just used one of their basic templates to start with, so a bit lazy could of done better.

And yeah don't really want to go down the Pi route, too much messing around, Ill just stick to PC's

Yeah, I also suggested a Rasp Pi 8gb and a M.2 to SATA converter :D

Aye, that's even cheaper and just as useful.

I don't know anything about Pi's, I have to buy a board and probably do some soldering or something etc too much messing around in my view, I just want to build a PC, that's what I'm used to and comfortable with.

Performance wise it's going to be fine? I originally opted for the R3 cause it might serve media files for DNLA but just file serving in general.
